Charlotte.. a place to live?
View from our Airbnb. It was a great location to walk all of " Uptown". (Called that since the 1800's because the main intersection, Tryon & Trade, sits on the highest ridge.)
First evening we had a great dinner with Jane & Mike. We've known Jane over 20 Yrs. It was a great dinner and fun time Thanks for the meal, guys!
We spend many days checking out the surrounding suburbs of Charlotte. We went from Lake Norman, Davidson (cute), Huntersville, Matthew's, Fort Mill, Rock Hill, Tega Cay, to Lake Wylie.
All searching for the perfect place to live.
Lunch at Amélies French Bakery. YUM
Friday we met Gretchen and Scott
(my niece and her husband). They and the boys took us out to dinner for some delicious NC barbecue.
Camp North End was initially a Ford factory. In the 1950's it was repurposed to build Hercules missiles..cold War and all. Camp actually stands for Charlotte Army Missile Plant. It has now been repurposed again. It has food vendors, shops, is a music venue, farmers market and ,overall, a cool place.
The next day we walked a few blocks Uptown to get to The Taste of Charlotte that was going on.
The Firebird..nicknamed Disco Chicken. He makes an impression uptown!
My favorite booth.
When in the South, you must have fried bologna sandwiches!
Just a few blocks from Uptown sits the Fourth Ward. Adorable historic homes..seems a world away from the Uptown hustle.
Tree line street and parks..three blocks from Uptown. Fell in love with this area.
Last night in Charlotte. After the rain, eerie Uptown.
