Second Part of our Asheville Stay
Remember Mr Grove and his "tonic"?
This is The Grove Park Inn..his dream child. Built in 1913, it has housed 10 presidents, numerous authors, stars and The Pagans ( for lunch)
The spa area is so cool with waterfalls and cave like pools.
Dave at one of the two huge lobby fireplaces.
They even built the original elevator in the chimney area, buffered by rocks. They didn't want the noise to bother the people.
Beautiful from any angle.
One can dream..
We stayed at a beautiful Airbnb next to a horse farm for a week. When we drove up, the flowers were so vibrant I thought they were fake! ( Donna!)
The view from our window was "bucolic" as Kyle described it.
Took another trip on the Blue Ridge Parkway and saw these cute guys. Mama was hiding in the trees...watching.
Visited the NC Arboretum and walked the nature trail. Beautiful area.
Frederick Law Olmsted. Father of American Landscape Architecture.
There's a "final Jeopardy" answer for you!
Finally we went to Pisgah Inn high up on Mt Mitchell for sunset dinner. Clouds rolled in 15 min prior to our arrival, and this was our view!🤣
Can't win all the time!
Returned the next morning..much clearer!
Stopped for a 3 mi hike in Pisgah National Forest on our way to the next stop..Greenville, SC. Tough hike with a trail that was washed out a lot. My new hiking shoes are definitely broken in..with all the mud.
