The Big Easy
Drove the 25 mile causeway over Lake Pontchartrain. It's the longest continuous bridge over water in the world. Then we arrived in New Orleans.
First night out enjoying the town. Had to stroll down Bourbon street. It's like " The Duval Crawl" on steriods!
The French founded New Orleans in 1718. Rue Bourbon was named after France's ruling House of Bourbon. In 1763 New Orleans was given to the Spanish. The Great New Orleans fire of 1788 destroyed 80% of the buildings. This is why Bourbon St and the"The French Quarter" have more Spanish than French influence in their architecture.
Had to buy beads if I want them. Cuz NOBODY wants to see that! 🤣
Dinner at Oceana. Met the most wonderful couple from Minneapolis, Kansas and had dinner with them. Thanks for a fun time, Suz and Denny! Oh..and don't forget the Bourbon bread pudding!
