Heading to Jackson, MS

Image
Lunch on the road at Legion State Park in Louisville, MS.  Cute little park. Not a soul here but us and the ranger.

Crane Hill, AL

The drive to our Airbnb in Crane Hill was only 4 hrs, but beautiful scenery We actually drove on part of the original Trail of Tears. Although cool, it was a sobering reminder of our country's cruel history. Then we arrived at this adorable tiny house by Smith Lake. Spending 2 nights here to chill before heading to Madison, MS.

I think I fixed the comment section.

Canton, GA

Canton, GA is a beautiful suburb of Atlanta..about 30 min to the north. It has a cute downtown, great weather and wonderful friends in Donna and John Reed. Donna showed us all around the area and John made the best pulled pork in the South! It's a town on our list now.

Lunch break and a walk at Reed Bingham State Park

Happiness is LEAVING Florida!

Lakeland, FL

Visiting with our friend, Maureen. She and I were in the Peace Corp together...many years ago. Such a serene view from her patio/pool area. Lakeland has many beautiful lakes in the downtown area. They also have many swans. Queen Elizabeth II donated a pair of swans from her royal flock to Lakeland 5 years after she became queen. The first swans arrived to Lake Morton in 1957 and their descendents are still going strong. It also has Florida Southern College, where many of the buildings were designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. It is the largest single site collection of his architecture in the world.

The road trip has started! Touch to read all about it

Finally both Dave and I are retired. April 13th we closed on our house of 27 years where we raised our kids. Moved out as we moved in...during a torrential all day downpour. We sold our furniture, put what we wanted to keep in storage (including his 35 yr old recliner 🤣), packed our hybrid SUV and are hitting the road for a year of adventure. After looking at the price of RV'S, gas and places to park, we decided to utilize our SUV and stay at Airbnbs, hotels, friends and with family. So if you're reading this...we homeless nomads will probably want to mooch off of you!! My niece suggested a blog so we could easily keep everyone informed of our travels. So, welcome to our blog! Hopefully our adventures will entertain you.

IT'S SOLD!
